What good tutoring homework looks like

The point of homework between one-to-one lessons isn't to fill time — it's to make one thing stick. A short task that practises exactly what you covered beats a big generic worksheet the student does on autopilot. Little and often (ten focused minutes a few times a week) usually helps more than one long sitting.

Pitch it so the student can finish it without you. If a task needs you in the room, it's a lesson activity, not homework. Leave a line asking them to flag anything they got stuck on — that turns homework into the starting point for the next lesson instead of a box to tick.
